| Tecumseh and the War of 1812 |
| The clash between the two very different cultures of the Native American and the
Anglo-American is highlighted in this monologue. Tecumseh expresses his love for the ways
of his people, and his anger and frustration for the attempts made by the white man to
destroy these ways.
Tecumsehs brilliant success at forging a confederation of Indian nations to stop the onslaught of advancing white settlers is dealt with, and a very interesting and important question is raised. If Tecumseh had not allied his confederation with the British during the War of 1812, would we all be Americans today? Time: approx. 1 ½ hrs. Students to sit in a circle on the floor if possible.
