Canadian Infantry Soldier – First World War

This hour long monologue reveals the Western Front of the First World War from the perspective of the "Poor Bloody Infantry". It does not deal with the political causes of the war or the strategy of the great battles, but rather the horrific reality of day-to-day life in the trenches.

Special emphasis is given to the Battle of Vimy Ridge. The day of this battle, Easter Monday 1917, is said by many to be the day that Canada truly became a nation.

The reminiscences of a ninety-two year old verteran are the main source of this very hard-hitting monologue - Fred LeFeuvre, Canadian Infantry, 2nd Division, 4th Brigade, 19th Battalion. The unique quality of his story moves us to consider the heartbreaking realities of war.

Please Note: Beginning in the 2009 / 2010 school year, the WWI soldier performances will be portrayed exclusively by Peter Hurley, and if you are interested in booking this character, you should contact Peter directly.

Time: approx. 1 ½ hrs. A chair is needed.
