| For twenty years Gabriel Dumont led the annual Metis buffalo hunt on the
prairies of Saskatchewan. By the mid 1880s the buffalo were gone and the railway was
approaching from the east the tradional lifestyle of the Plains Indians and their
Metis cousins was over. Their subsequent petitioning for help and cooperation from Ottawa
continually fell upon deaf ears. Through the eyes of their military commander, Dumont, we see the Metis rebel under the leadership of Louis Riel. This monologue tells the story of a peoples way of life and its tragic demise. Time : approx. 1 ½ hrs. A place to hang a piece of canvas, a large table and chair are needed.
